Biological Therapy

Biological therapy is treatment designed to stimulate or restore the ability of the body's immune (natural internal defense) system to fight infection and disease. Biological therapy is also called biotherapy or immunotherapy.

Biological therapy often involves the use of substances called biological response modifiers (BRMs). The body normally produces these substances in small amounts in response to infection and disease. Using modern laboratory techniques, scientists can produce BRMs in large amounts for use in the treatment of cancer and other diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis and Crohn's disease.

The increased prevalence of allergies and the negative side effects of traditional pharmacotherapy prompted the limitation of chemotherapy prescription all over the world. Bio-molecular preparations have a rare quality – they have no harmful side effects.  They do not provoke allergic reaction and there is no problem of overdosing. The point is that the pharmacologically active substance of the preparations is “superhealthy”   bio substrate: tissue- and organ-specific regulatory peptides, cytamines, cytokines, growth inductors and other biomolecules extracted from the healthy animals’ cellular cytoplasm. Organic preparations provide pathogenetically reasonable therapy of wide range of diseases.  G.B. Blobel’s discovery of biomolecular ZIP-codes (which was awarded the Nobel Prize) was a powerful spur to the great application of cellular peptides. The invention explains the mechanism of organotropism (physiological accuracy and addressness of influencing the organ’s function) enabling the restoration of organs physiological regeneration and genetic control of the process.

Speaking about the quality of the biological therapy we cannot but mention the polyenzyme therapy. The use of enzymes in the therapeutic process give the possibility to achieve anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antiedematous effect; to improve blood rheology and to regulate the cytokines  level. It also helps to control the functional activity of immune competent cells and to lower the level of pathogenic immunocomplexes.

Another important part of the complex biotherapy is individually selected herbal therapy and hirudotherapy.

In the 19^th century in Russia leeches were broadly used in treating a wide spectrum of diseases. And nowadays, in the modern environment, the therapeutic effect of the salivary gland secretion is a worthy alternative to the chemical methods of treating various chronic diseases.

The combinative application of the mentioned above methods has enquired a good reputation in all the fields of pediatric practice, especially in neurology and treating children who are ailing; and also in treating chronic conditions  of adults:  sterility (particularly male sterility); immune system pathology (particularly to normalize autoimmune processes); in sports medicine and gerontology.
